Florida Forum WWII Veteran's Special - Part Two

Morton Brooks, a WWII veteran, now living in Boynton Beach, discusses a
traumatic experience in WWII.
While a prisoner in a POW camp, he was force marched with other Jewish
American soldiers to a little known (even to this day) concentration camp at
Berga just months before the liberation of most of Germany. Many of his
fellow prisoners died of hunger or maltreatment. He survived, and kept the
story to himself for over 30 years and only in the past 5 years has he
started to bring it to light. He hopes his telling of this horror-filled
chapter of history will help educate those who don't believe what happened.
This camp, and Morton's part of the story, was written about in a book by NY
Times editor Roger Cohen, called "Soldiers and Slaves."

Irwin Stovroff , a Bombardier in the 44th Bomb Group, was shot down on his
35th missions into German lines. While parachuting down, he threw away his
dog tags, which would have revealed he was Jewish. The rest of this amazing
story of coincidences and fate, you will have to hear to believe.
